Step 1: Know your skin type!

Who doesn’t desire a flawless skin? First step is to learn your skin type. Your skin is;

• Dry type; if you experience flaking
• Oily type; if you have shiny and oily skin with large pores
• Combination type; if your forehead, nose and chin areas are oily, but cheek areas are dry
• Sensitive type; if you experience burning sensation or itching after using certain make-up products.

Step 2: Cleanse your skin first!

If you have a normal and balanced skin type, you don’t have to buy expensive products to cleanse your skin. Use a mild skin cleanser that is suitable for your skin type. Rinse with plenty of warm water then dry off. If your skin becomes more dry or oily, try a different skin cleanser.

If your skin is dry, use a mild alcohol-free and odor-free cleanser. Do not use soap. Gently rinse with plenty of warm water, try to avoid using hot water. To get rid of flaking skin cells, try using a peeling product for dry skins once in a week. It will provide a healthier look for your skin.

If your skin is oily, use a foaming gel cleanser. Rinse with plenty of warm water. If your skin is sensitive, cleanse it with a gentle skin cleanser and rinse with warm water. You can even use products that don’t require rinsing. Rather than alcohol, soap, acid or perfume containing products, prefer aloe, chamomile, green tea, glycerin and oat containing products.

Step 3: Moisturize your skin!

Even if your skin is oily, it needs to be moisturized. So, no matter what your skin type is, use a suitable moisturizer every day regularly. Prefer water-based and non-comedogenic (not causing blackheads) moisturizers. If your skin is oily and acne-prone, prefer mild and oil-free moisturizers. If you want the moisturizer to be more effective, apply it when your skin is wet.

Step 4: Apply sunscreen!

Do not forget that the sun can damage your skin in just 15 minutes. Even though most of the moisturizers contain sun protection, it is necessary to use a sunscreen separately during the summer. Even if the weather is overcast, use your sunscreen and re-apply it every 3 hours.

Step 5: Learn when to wash your face!

If you wash your face too many times during the day, you will cause it to dry out. Wash your face in the morning with warm water. Use a soft towel to dry off and do not rub your face while drying off. You can remove the dirt and make-up by cleaning your face with a suitable cleaner or a mild soap in the night.

When you are tired, you may wish to get into bed before you cleanse your face. But the make-up left on your face will block your pores and cause acne. Make use of mild cleaners or make-up removers to clean your make-up.

Step 7: Do not allow acne!

Do not squeeze your pimples. It can lead to infection and permanent scarring. Instead, consult with your dermatologist and take advice about acne treatment products.

Step 8: Do not share your make-up products!

Do not share your make-up products. If the people you share your make-up products with have any infections, these products can contaminate and negatively affect your skin. If you have experienced an eye infection or a cold sore on your facial area, in order to prevent them from erupting again, discard the products that you have used back then and buy new ones.

Step 9: Care about your diet and your sleep!

Keep your skin health with a healthy diet. Consume vegetables, fruits, whole grains and low-fat dairy products. Prefer white meat, fish, lean meat, beans and egg for proteins. Avoid foods with high cholesterol, salt, and sugar. Try to drink plenty of water.

Sleeping is essential for a healthy skin. If you don’t want to have dark circles under your eyes or have a pale skin, sleep regularly. Do not smoke. Avoid having a stressful life.

Step 10: Do not forget that tanning means skin damage!

Tanning is equal to skin damage. Sun or solarium caused tanning may lead to more wrinkled skin in the future. Fore a safer tanning, try using self-tanning products that don’t require sun exposure.
